ESD 123 is proud to announce the expansion of our regional art exhibit. For the first time in the agency’s history, ESD 123 will host a Regional Teacher Art exhibit, as well as a Middle School Art Exhibit at our facilities in Pasco. This yearlong rotating art display begins with a call for entries that opened May 2nd for all regional K-12 public and private school educators.
ESD 123’s new Regional Teacher Art Exhibit is a significant step toward the agency’s goal to showcase art education year-round. As with other state ESDs, the annual high school art show has been a long-standing event for 123. Due to the size of the show (typically between 500-600 pieces), ESD 123 has previously partnered with the local community college to house the exhibit. However, ESD 123 has long desired to expand its support of arts education by featuring more artists at multiple grade levels, and in our own facilities.
ESD 123 Superintendent Darcy Weisner knew the 2017 expansion of the ESD’s Professional Development Center offered a unique opportunity for the additional space to serve as a ‘blank canvas’ to display the work of talented school artists.
“Our ESD serves as a hub for school districts to access a variety of services that support students and teachers,” states Superintendent Weisner. “Arts education is one of those services, and it begins with the passion and dedication of art teachers in our schools.”
The kickoff to the yearlong rotating art display at ESD 123 begins with the Regional Teacher Art Exhibit opening June 4, 2018. At the conclusion of the teacher exhibit, ESD 123 will transition into its first Middle School Art Exhibit from October through January.
