Matthew Solomon joined the ESD team in July as our Assistant Superintendent for Early Learning. He has an extensive early childhood education non-profit background.

“We have a strong early learning program across our ESD region,” said ESD Superintendent Dana Anderson. “Matthew’s passion for helping families in need and his tireless pursuit of funding to make it happen make him an ideal choice for us.”

Currently, the ESD provides services for families with children between 3 and 5 years old. Matthew intends to expand services to reach families with children from their conception through age 5.

The primary early learning programs are Early Childhood Education Assistance Program (ECEAP), which are state-funded preschool services, and Head Start, which are federally funded. These programs target high-risk, low-income families. The services are holistic in nature. Services include: early childhood education, family services, parenting education, and parent engagement, mental health, health, nutrition, referral services, disabilities services, transportation and transition supports. The ultimate goal is school readiness.

Matthew is bilingual, biliterate and semi-bicultural. He can be reached at msolomon@esd113.org or 360-464-6818.
