This past summer, the Northwest Educational Service District 189’s Migrant Education Program in concert with OSPI, the Northwest Earth and Space Sciences Pipeline (NESSP) and NASA Science Mission Directorate, and the Burlington-Edison School District championed a pilot of its first-ever NASA Summer Camp. The weeklong camp engaged elementary students in learning about rocketry and flight and how the wonderment of our universe’s ever-developing pieces have inspired our country’s rich history of space exploration.

Burlington-Edison inspired a classroom of over two dozen students, and in years to come, we hope to see this and projects like it not only expand, but flourish across our region.
